WWE NXT Divas?

Posted on February 3, 2010 - Filed Under ECW diva, Rosa Mendes, Savannah, Taryn Terrell, WWE Divas, diva news

A major ECW announcement was made via Mr. McMahon on the 2/2/10 episode of ECW on SyFy in which the chairman stated ECW will end in three weeks time.  At that time, Vince announced a new WWE program would be born that would be the next “evolution in WWE and television”.  According to reports from various wrestling media sites, that new show is to be called “WWE NXT” and will feature more of the newer developmental talent from the ranks of organizations like FCW.  FCW has supplied many of the talents seen in ECW today including Rosa Mendes, ring announcer Savannah, and the tag team known as Croft and Barreta.  One of the newest “divas” is the clean shaven Straightedge Society member Serena on Smackdown, also from FCW.

Since we will most likely be seeing more new talent, that probably will mean new WWE Divas.  Some of the WWE NXT divas may include the four females pictured who currently work within FCW.  It’s unknown where ECW divas Rosa Mendes, Tiffany and Savannah will head now, but maybe we see Ryder move with his girl Rosa to Smackdown.  Tiffany could move back to Smackdown as Teddy Long’s assistant, because her role on ECW was done well.  Let’s hope all of the current ECW divas get work within the other WWE shows, and here’s looking forward to the WWE NXT divas this new show may bring!

Maria Kanellis on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice 2010

Posted on January 16, 2010 - Filed Under Maria Kanellis, Smackdown diva, Uncategorized, WWE Divas, diva news

WWE Diva Maria Kanellis will be appearing as one of several contestants on NBC’s upcoming season of “The Celebrity Apprentice“.  The show features sports, entertainment and other stars all vying for a spot as the winner who becomes an apprentice with Donald Trump.  Week in and out the stars must work on team challenges and tasks to show their business skills as well as project management.  In a recent backstage segment on Smackdown, Maria was congratulated by General Manager Theodore Long on making the show, then interrupted as consultant Vickie Guerrero asked Maria to demo the latest WWE Mattel action figures and toys.

Joining Maria will be another face familiar to the WWE Universe, former WWE Champion Goldberg.  In addition, controversial former Illinois governor, Rod Blagojevich, WWE Raw guest host Sharon Osborne, and Poison frontman Bret Michaels will all be a part of the show.

Maria will be the first ever WWE diva to join the show, but not the first model or Playboy star.  Previously Brandy Roderick a Playboy Playmate appeared on the show, as have other models from Deal or No Deal.  WWE Superstar wrestler John Cena was scheduled to appear on the show a few seasons ago, but was cut before the season aired.

You’ll also recall that Donald Trump was the first guest host to star on Raw, and was escorted to the ring by Maria and Eve Torres.  Perhaps a backstage talk with Maria and Mr. McMahon lead to the decision to feature the diva on Celeb Apprentice!  Good luck to Miss Kanellis, we’re wishing Maria the best of luck on the upcoming season of “The Celebrity Apprentice”!

Happy 23rd birthday Kelly Kelly!

WWE Diva Kelly Kelly is celebrating her 23rd birthday today.  Although she’s coming off a loss on this past week’s Raw in the WWE Divas Championship Tournament, she’s still got plenty of success to celebrate with her pro wrestling career.

Kelly Kelly recently spoke to diva-dirt.com in a podcast interview.  The enlightening interview discusses Kelly Kelly’s upbringing into WWE, as well as who her best friends are in WWE.  Kelly claims that Stone Cold Steve Austin was one of her favorites growing up, and she also thought it was great to see the women such as Sunny, Sable and Chyna.  Among her current best friends, Kelly lists the Bella Twins as being close, but says the divas all try to stay away from Maryse.

Kelly said she was extremely disappointed with her loss to Alicia Fox this past Monday in the divas tournament.  Kelly spoke about the Melina injury saying Melina’s one of her best friends.  Kelly said she didn’t see Melina’s injury as her opportunity to finally get a title, but getting a title is one of her main WWE goals.  Kelly said she’s a bit impatient because it’s been four years since she broke into ECW/WWE, and it’s time for a title.

Melina injury at 12/29 WWE House Show

Posted on January 2, 2010 - Filed Under Maryse, Melina Perez, Raw diva, Uncategorized, WWE Divas, diva news

According to Wrestling Observer, WWE Divas Champion Melina suffered a tough injury at a WWE live house show event.  The event took place on December 29, 2009 in Manchester, New Hampshire, where Melina reportedly suffered a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL).

The injury will unfortunately sideline Melina for six months, a tough setback for the Divas champion.  There was original plans to have Melina lose the title to Maryse after being attacked backstage, but instead the Divas title was simply vacated.

Melina has been WWE Divas Champ ever since arriving to Raw via a trade back on 10/12/09.  She defeated Jillian Hall in the ring just moments after Jillian had won the divas title from Mickie James.  Now to determine a new champion, the Raw divas will compete in a 8-diva Championship tournament.  It will be single elimination matches, with the ultimate winner getting the WWE Divas Championship belt.

Best wishes to Melina as she recovers from this tough injury, and good luck to all divas competing for the title!

Piggy James WWE segment & video

Posted on November 20, 2009 - Filed Under Uncategorized

So what’s the story on the Piggy James WWE segment and storyline?  Since arriving to Smackdown in October of 2009, Mickie James has continued to prove herself as one of the top WWE Divas.  However, current Womens Champion Michelle McCool and her pay Layla have seen Mickie as a threat, and their insecurities have shown via insults hurled at Mickie.  On one occasion, right after Mickie was celebrating a victory in her 11/20/09 Smackdown match, WWE Diva Layla suggested that Mickie take a look at the Titantron for a special video.

The video features Michelle McCool in a farmer’s outfit on a cartoonish farm, singing the classic tune “Old MacDonald”.  Except in this version Michelle has given Mickie the new nickname “Piggy James” as an insult towards Mickie being overweight.  It was rumored that among the reasons Mickie was sent from Raw to Smackdown was due to her weight issue becoming an issue in her dealings with WWE personnel backstage.

The overweight insults and jokes have continued on Smackdown as Team LayCool has thought up some hurtful gifts for Mickie including Weight Watchers calendar and feeding trough.  One other diva who isn’t amused by the jokes has been Beth Phoenix, who isn’t overweight but definitely has a much more muscular frame than most divas.

The Piggy James WWE segments continue as Team LayCool looks for an edge over Mickie, always a threat to win a divas title or Womens championship!

Jillian is Divas Champion, until Melina arrives!

Posted on October 13, 2009 - Filed Under Uncategorized

On the 10/12/09 WWE Raw, Jillian Hall was booked in a WWE Divas title match against champion Mickie James.   In the Raw Divas title match, Jillian managed to steal a victory from Mickie James to become the new WWE Divas Champion.  It was the first ever title for Jillian Hall in her WWE divas career.  However, her first title reign would also make history as the shortest ever.

The show was guest hosted by Nancy O’Dell, who announced a blockbuster divas trade had gone down between Raw, Smackdown and ECW.  Among the moves, Beth Phoenix and Mickie James were sent over to Smackdown.Newly acquired Raw diva Melina showed up to spoil the party, and fought Jillian in her first title defense.

Melina picked up a quick pinfall victory against Jillian  (using a Sunset flip style move), making Melina the Divas Champion.  With the victory, Melina also makes history as one of just 3 divas to have won the WWE Divas title and WWE Womens title in their career.  Mickie James and Michelle McCool are the other two.
